Indications are coming to fore that Congress will try its level best and will left no stone unturned to gain power in the assembly polls slated to be held next month. In the same bid, it would be gambling upon the senior party leaders of national stature including sitting Members of Parliament.
Former Union Minister of state and senior Congress leader Charandas Mahant and Member of Parliament Lok Sabha from Durg, Tamradhwaj Sahu had already shown their willingness to contest the assembly polls. Same is the case with Rajya Sabha Member Chhaya Verma, former union minister Arvind Netam and former MP from tribal region of Bastar, Sohan Potai. “The organization is planning to field them all in order to gain majority in 90 member state assembly”, a senior leader said.
With former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi floating his own outfit Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC)(J) a couple of years ago, a triangular contest with nail biting finish is being predicted by the political observers.
Keeping in view a tough contest between the two main political parties Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress with the fear that JCC (J) going to play spoilsport, having already entered into alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party, Congress will throw all its full energy to restrict BJP retaining the power for the fourth consecutive time, the senior party leader said.
