The Opposition Congress party in Chhattisgarh has set up district wise committees to monitor, validate and attest ration cards, the party said on Saturday.
State Congress president Bhupesh Baghel said each party cadre, office bearer and leaders have the responsibility to ensure that none of the valid ration card gets invalidated.
“All partymen have been asked to visit the ration shops in their respective area from time to time and ensure that card holders get rice for sure. If the ration shop owner denies rice to the beneficiaries then they should take the people along and raise their voices,’’ Baghel said in a statement.
The department of State’s food, civil supply and consumer welfare in a circular of May 28 directed that the ration cards in the State has to be validated in June and by end of July 14 it should be invalid to all the bogus cards.
The Congress party has been opposing this move alleging that these cards were issued after proper check by ground level workers and relevant authorities.
After election, the Government is setting up to cancel the cards of 14 lakh families and the Congress is going to oppose it. If required, the party will stage demonstration against the Government move.
The Congress has formed district level committees to monitor and validate ration cards and put pressure on the Government so that no genuine beneficiary get the benefits, the party said in the statement.
