SR

Chhattisgarh Congress chief and Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Charan Das Mahant on Tuesday here said his party was not linked to the Utthan Yatra launched by people of scheduled caste community.

The Yatra is the spontaneous anger of the people against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party Government in the state which has been repeatedly not taking care of their interest, he said. The Government has cut down the percentage of reservation for scheduled caste to 12 per cent from 16 and people are angry for such decision, he said. People have been organising rallies procession across the State against the decision, he pointed out.

The Government is afraid of the supports the rallies of scheduled caste people drawing. The BJP is responsible for making them angry, because it deliberately cut down the reservation to humiliate people of Satnami Samaj, he added. Congress stands not only behind them also with all other people who have been victimised or neglected by the present State Government. If the congress comes to power in the ensuing election, it will revert back the decision, he said.

Congress feels, the BJP Government has deliberately cut down the reservation to ensure that the future generations of the schedule caste community do not get job opportunities, he said.
