The state Congress charged the opposition BJP and its ideological fountainhead Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of insulting “bravery of jawans and their martyrdom” by politicising their sacrifices.
PCC general secretary and chairman of its communication wing Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said the BJP and RSS were trying to take political mileage of the bravery and sacrifices of the soldiers.
He said the policy of Modi government to fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism was limited only to his speeches in rallies and public meetings. ,
Asserting that policies of Narendra Modi’s government were not in the interest of the country, the Congress leader said the government was trying to muzzle the dissenting voice of the opposition against the BJP-led government’s political decisions, by dubbing them as opposing the bravery of armed forces.
In the past 56 months of the BJP government, a total of 498 Jawans and officials attained martyrdom, he said, adding in February 2019 itself, 55 bravehearts had laid down their lives fighting against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
In the same period, Pakistan had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and international border 5665 times but the Modi government at the Centre had only used swuch acts as a tool to garner support for the upcoming general elections, the Congress leader charged.
The use of military achievements for political mileage has perplexed each and every citizen of our country and this act of Modi was an insult to our armed forces, he added.
