All the big leaders of the State Congress on Tuesday attended the road-show organised in the favour of Congress candidate Alka Mudaliyar in Rajnandgaon. Great multitudes attended the rally. Along with National treasurer of the party Motilal Vora and State in-charge BK Hariprasad, Union Minister Kumari Shailja also participated in the road-show.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh is the BJP candidate from Rajnandgaon city seat. The Congress has fielded Alka Mudaliyar, wife of the late Uday Mudaliyar, who was martyred in the Jeeram Ghati Naxalite attack recently, against the CM. The Congress, taking this seat as very significant, has put all its force there.
The State Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, have reached Rajnandgaon on Tuesday. The leaders wend through various roads of the city in open jeep. They have been given warm welcome at various places.
Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi had joined the rally, but after some time, he left for Bilaspur. Along with national treasurer Motilal Vora, Congress candidate Alka Mudaliyar sought vote for her. The crowd of the Congress leaders, after wending through Durga Chowk, Jama Masjid and Sarafa Bazar, reached Gudaku lane, where the party workers shouted slogans and the leaders sought cooperation of all for making the party candidate victorious. Huge crowds gathered on both sides of the road.
The caravan of the Congress leaders was escorted by party workers in large numbers. Coming on a common stage, all the leaders have tried to show unity, and they were successful to some extent. The leaders tried their level best to impress the whole city.
The Congress National president Sonia Gandhi will reach Rajnandgaon on November 7.
