Cong slams Raman for jaundice deaths

Staff Reporter

The Congress on Friday slammed Chief Minister Raman Singh for the rising death toll following outbreak of seasonal diseases in the State. The State witnessed around 20 deaths on account of jaundice alone in the past fortnight and the state administration has been leaving no stone unturned to contain the death organising special health check up camps and providing medicine at war footing.

The Congress, however, found the state government’s efforts inadequate to address the outbreak of the seasonal diseases in a massive proportion across the state especially after government water supply found to be contaminated. Slamming the Chief Minsiter, State Congress president Bhupesh Baghel said here on Friday, “water contamination in the State reached to a very dangerous position that public health was constantly under threat,’’.

“Hazardous contents such as fluoride was found in the water being supplied to the people and that led to outbreak of water borne diseases,’’ he said and took a swipe at the government for its failure to even supply adequate potable water to the people.
