The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) has demanded a thorough investigation into the arrest of Kartik Haldhar from Patan in Durg district who has been accused of killing three witnesses in the high-profile Asaram case.
“After the exposure of a tape which revealed how Antagarh assembly by-poll was fixed by the ruling BJP with the help of a Congress leader’s family, it seems the CGPCC Bhupesh Baghel was next on target by a contractor killer Haldhar who had already eliminated several witnesses in Asaram case,’’ alleged president CGPCC media committee Shailesh Nitin Trivedi on Saturday.
Trivedi hinted that the contractor killer who was arrested from Baghel’s assembly constituency Patan recently, had probably on the mission of targeting Baghel and only a detailed probe into the matter would unravel the facts.
He informed that Girish Dewangan, the general secretary of state Congress unit, has also written a letter to the Director General of Police in this regard.
Kartik Haldhar was arrested by a joint team of Gujarat Police and Chhattisgarh police from Magarghata area of Patan, he said.
Haldhar’s family earlier used to live in Fundhar village, Trivedi claimed while adding that it should be examined that on whose inspiration the family moved to Magarghata of Patan.
According to Trivedi, Bhupesh Baghel had got information that his political adversaries had hired some sharp shooters for killing him and he had shared this information with reporters in a press conference recently as well.
“If the call details of Kartik Haldhar, his wife Reshu Haldhar and Dr Ranjeet Sahu -who had allegedly provided patronage to Haldhar- of past six months are checked then the whole failed plan of targeting CGPCC chief can be exposed,’’ he claimed.
