The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday accused the Opposition Congress of playing politics over the issue of jaundice outbreak in certain parts of the State. Instead of helping the State Government to deal with the situation, the Congress has been playing politics over it, the BJP said in a statement here on Saturday.
The Congress party had been criticising the State Government to cover up the misdeeds and ineffectiveness of its own Raipur City Mayor who belongs to the Congress party, it stated. The drinking water pipeline has already been laid in jaundice affected DD Nagar locality but water supply connections were not given to the people due to the negligence by Raipur Municipal Corporation and its Mayor, it alleged.
It is the responsibility of the civic body to provide clean drinking water and sewage disposal system to the people to provide them a healthy and clean living. The Mayor should submit resignation taking moral responsibility for the jaundice outbreak, the BJP said.
