The Chhattisgarh unit of Congress will hold a crucial meeting on Monday here to take a stock of the lok Sabha polling held in the State in three phases for 11 seats.
The party leaders are also expected to discuss the role of several party leaders, who allegedly worked against the party interests and tried to ensure defeats of party’s official candidates.
Senior Congress leaders will collect comprehensive feedback from party’s lok Sabha candidates as well as from district unit chiefs about polling which went on in three phases for the 11 seats. The lok Sabha candidates will also spell out their experiences regarding the advantage and difficulties they faced during the polls.
Sources said that several party candidates are likely to complain about serious infighting in the party which have blocked their chances to emerge winners. Reports say that a section of the party worked against official candidates in certain seats such as Korba where Union Minister of State Charandas Mahant is contesting.
Sources said some candidates have made up their mind to lodge complaints against some party office-bearers and legislators, who allegedly played the role of internal trouble makers.
Those who may lodge their complaints include Rajnandgaon candidate Kamaleshwar Verma, Surguja candidate Ramdev Ram, Janjgir-Champa candidate Premchand Jaisi.
Union Minister of State and Congress candidate Charan Das Mahant, who contested from Korba, has already vented his anger openly. He had already registered his reservations with Congress national general secretary and In-charge of Chhattisgarh BK Hariprasad.
Sources said the role of some legislators and office-bearers of Rajnandgaon district are also being questioned. Rajnandgaon candidate Kamaleshwar Verma is likely to bring this to the notice of the party organisation.
In Janjgir-Champa also, the party candidate faced similar trouble. Party insiders said there are at least 10 legislators who did not take much interest in the lok Sabha election during the party’s poll campaigning.
