Cong holds demo, burns effigy of Govt

SR

A number of Congress’ workers on Sunday burnt an effigy of the ruling BJP Government for what they termed  as ‘going back’ on its promises made during 2013 Assembly polls.

“True face of BJP has now been exposed. The party had made many promises including safeguarding the farmers’ rights and purchasing their every single grain of their crop in its manifesto” alleged Raipur District Congress Committee’s President, Vikas Upadhyay.

He added “the Government has purposely delayed paddy procurement process by around one-and-half month only to benefit the commission agents active in grain markets. In need of money during festival of Diwali, the farmers will be forced to sell their crops on considerably low price.”

Besides, the government has duped the farmers with its decision to limit procurement of paddy to 10 quintal per acre and extending deadline of the farmers’ registration only till October 31, alleged Upadhyay.

He mentioned that Congress will register its protest against the aforesaid decisions of the ruling BJP government on every level across the State. The party workers burnt an effigy of the Government on the occasion.
