Allotment of Congress ticket to Shamu Kashyap from Jagdalpur (General) seat has surprised many on Friday. Only recently Kashyap had resigned from the post of Panchayat Secretary to stake his claim from Jagdalpur seat for the Assembly poll due on November 11.
He was far behind Rekhchand Jain, Umashankar Shukla and Manohar lunia as they were considered as front runners. But the announcement of Shamu kashyap’s name as an official candidate puzzled one and all in the local political circle. Betting on such a new face after overlooking the presence of politicians who are active in party for years is not going down easily.
Though, no one is ready to comment on the decision of the Congress de facto high command Rahul Gandhi, dissatisfaction erupting among party workers over the selection of Kashyap can not be ruled out. Notably, the Congress Central Election Committee after days of deliberations declared first list of its candidates comprising 17 candidates for the ensuing Assembly polls.
Out of these candidates, some were all ready decided like that of Umesh Patel from Kharasia, Alka Mudliyar from Rajnandgaon, Devti Karma from Dantewada, selection of a number of candidates including Samu Kashyap is bound to generate dissension in the party rank.
