Cong Durg district unit faces revolt

Staff Reporter

The district unit of Congress in Durg district is set to face a major rebellion from within following state party president’s decision to the scrap all the appointments made to the district committee prior to the lok Sabha polls here.

The state president Bhupesh Baghel scrapped the appointments of more than 40 district committee office bearers without any prior notice the other day, virtually paving way for a rebellion from within.

The district general secretary of the Congress, Manish Jagyasi questioned the decision of the state president as an insult to them. He also shot off letters to senior party leaders Motilal Vora, Ajit Jogi, TS Singdeo and Arun Vora urging them to mediate with the state leadership to revoke the order in the larger interests of the party.

Slamming the decision, he said it was a clear case of betrayal of trust that they were made to work hard  for the lok Sabha polls and now after the election was over they were summarily dismissed from the posts of office bearers.

He said all of them worked hard day in and out for  the party during the lS campaign and now removing them from the official posts without any reason was demoralising the party.
