The Cabinet has also approved the proposals pertaining to authorisation of Panchayat and Rural Development Department as Nodal Department for the scheme and convergence of amount worth Rs10 lakh from MlA Fund of each of the 90 MlAs in various ongoing schemes for development of villages marked under the scheme.

This will facilitate MlAs in prioritising works in respective Gram Panchayats. In the meeting, the Cabinet had an elaborate discussion on arrangements required to conduct upcoming month-long State-wide lok Suraaj Abhiyaan smoothly.

State-wide lok Suraaj Abhiyaan will be commencing from April 13, 2015. After the meeting was over, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar gave information about Cabinet’s decisions. He informed that MP Model Village Scheme was initiated in the country from October 11, 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had requested the States to conduct MlA Model Village Scheme, on the lines of MP Model Village Scheme.

In the same sequence, Chief Minister Raman Singh had requested all the MlAs of the State to select one village each under MlA Model Village Scheme. Criteria for selection of villages was same as MP Model Village Scheme i.e. population of 3000-5000 for general areas and population of 1500-2000 in tribal areas.

Presently, a total of 90 villages have been selected by the MlAs of the State. It is notable that MlA Model Village Scheme is purely a State’s programme. In other words, this scheme will be implemented by State Government’s departments through State’s schemes and programmes.

Chandrakar further informed that State Government has received investigation report from Judicial Commission, constituted to probe Meena Khalko case. Based on the recommendations of the report, the State Government will take necessary action and accordingly submit Action Taken Report in the Chhattisgarh Assembly.
