The Congress on Wednesday formed a committee to oversee its leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, which will pass through Chhattisgarh next month.

The state conveners appointed for the committee include Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia, Jai Singh Agrawal, Amarjeet Bhagat and Umesh Patel.

The party had also appointed district level observers, a party statement said.

The Yatra commenced on January 14 from Manipur will pass through seven districts of Chhattisgarh: Raigarh, Sakti, Janjgir Champa, Korba, Surguja, Surajpur and Balrampur.

It will culminate in Mumbai after covering a distance of over 6,700 km, passing through 110 districts of 15 states in 67 days.

The Yatra is expected to reach Chhattisgarh after February 16-17 and it will cover seven districts in five days in the state, a Congress spokesperson said.

According to political experts, the Yatra is expected to boost the morale of Congress leaders and workers in Chhattisgarh ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The party suffered a shock defeat in Assembly polls in December.
