As part of its three-tier panchayat election scheduled on January 20 in Chhattisgarh, the District Election Officers and Collectors on Tuesday issued notifications declaring that day as a public holiday and ‘Dry Day’.
According to the notification, under the Factories Act 1948 and the Shops and Establishment Act 1958, a public holiday has been declared for the workers and employees in the state on January 20.
It said that in factories which work seven days a week, the workers should be allowed to vote by turn.
All country-made and foreign liquor shops will remain closed with effect from 3 pm on January 18 to January 21 till 9 am.
No liquor shop, hotel, restaurant, club and any other establishment or person will be allowed to sell and serve liquor in restricted areas.
