nThe Chhattisgarh cabinet on Saturday authorized Collectors to impose lockdown in their districts if the coronavirus situation so demands.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel during a special cabinet meeting at his official residence in view of rising cases of Covid-19 in Chhattisgarh.
“It was decided that Covid testing will be doubled in the coming days across the state so that we get precise information about the spread and accordingly people can be treated,” Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey told the media after the cabinet decision.
He said that in places like Beergaon 100 percent testing will be carried out.
According to the Minister, it was decided that the capacity of the Health Department will be boosted. The number of beds will be increased at district level and in severely hit cities like Raipur, he said.
“The Chief Minister has decided to increase manpower like technicians, lab attendants, doctors," he said.
Depending on the situation in a district, the Collector can impose a full lockdown and curfew like closure. But they will have to give a three-day notice, the Minister said, adding that emergency services will be exempt from the lockdown.
