Collector, SP travel on motorbikes to inspect insurgent-infested villages

Staff Reporter

Collector Niranjan Das and Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pathak once again moved through the forest crossing rivers and nullahs on motorbikes to conduct inspection of far flung villages of the insurgency infested district bordering Odisha.

The villagers were surprised to find the Collector and the SP between them and expressed gratitude towards the officers for reaching them while travelling through risky and difficult terrain.

Das visited Bhaudi, Kamar and Thuhapani villages and took feedback of the villagers regarding various development works underway in their villages.

He also took stock of the Public Distribution System (PDS), Anganwadi centers, mid-day meal distribution and schools during the visit.

He found that most of the services were satisfactory in the villages. An Anganwadi Assistant informed the Collector that the Anganwadi Centre in Bhaudi village was running in open since there is no building.

The Collector assured of sanctioning a building for the Anganwadi Centre in the village. The residents of Thuhapani village complained that the teachers of Government school are not regular in their attendance. To this, Das issued directives to Assistant Director Tribal Welfare to ensure regular attendance of teachers.

It is worth mentioning that Collector had conducted similar inspections about two months ago in the monsoon season and initiated strict action against officials on finding laxity shown by them in their work.
