Staff Reporter

Collector Mukesh Bansal has directed the data entry operators engaged in filing the details of beneficiaries of Public Distribution System (PDS) to remain alert and make no errors while making entries.

In a meeting held with the data entry operators at the Collectorate here, Bansal said that it is the responsibility of operators to ensure that the name and age of the members of eligible household is recorded correctly in the database.

The work of data entry is very important and needs concentration. There are chances of error if the task is performed showing haste and this will raise a question on transparency of work, he said.  Bansal gave detailed information about the definition of eligible families under Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition  Security Act 2012 and said that the data entry operators will have to give extra attention in the work. He said that if a single person is a destitute he will come in the category of single-family and will be eligible for 10 kg of food grains.

A household has been considered as a unit for issuing ration card under the Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition Security Act 2012. A household includes husband-wife and their dependents who share the house and kitchen. In urban areas, persons having house constructed in more than 1,000 square feet area and in rural areas person having four hectares of irrigated land or eight hectares of non irrigated land are not eligible for the ration card.
