Staff Reporter

State Congress spokesperson Susheel Anand Shukla, in a party press statement issued here on Friday, said that the Chief Minister was deceiving farmers of the State by saying that now every year they would get paddy bonus.

He said the BJP, in its election manifesto 2008, had also declared that after coming into power the BJP Government would give paddy bonus at the rate Rs270 to the farmers every year. But after coming into power the Government told that the promise was for only one year.

He said that the chief minister, in his Vikas Yatra, has again been making false promises like that of 2008 that the farmers would be given paddy bonus every year. It is an effort from the part of the chief minister to befool farmers, he added.

Shukla demanded from the Chief Minister that if he is really the well-wisher of the farmers and intended to give benefits the farmers of the state, he should give the remaining paddy bonus for the last four years amounting to Rs3880 crore, as per the paddy purchased during these years, to the farmers immediately.

He said that the Congress would definitely come to power in Chhattisgarh in the 2013 election and the Congress Government would give paddy bonus to the farmers of the State every year.

In another press statement jointly issued by former Congress president Dhanendra Sahu, ex-Minister Satyanarayan Sharma, ex-leader of opposition Mehendra Karma, general secretary Bhupesh Baghel and media department chairman Shilesh Nitin Trivedi here on Friday, while terming the claim of CM Raman Singh of better economic condition of the state wrong, said that Chhattisgarh which had presumed to be a tax-free state at the time of its formation, now is in dire straits.

They said that due to mismanagement of the BJP Government and Dr Raman Singh, the condition of the State ex-chequer has gone from bad to worse and the 2.55 crore people of the State are now under a debt of Rs1,32,227 crore. The Raman Government has put the debt of Rs5,187 on each resident of the State, they added.
