Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday told officials to ensure supply of green fodder to all the gauthans constructed under Suraji Gaon Yojana.

In gauthan’s reserve land meant for grazing, napier grass should be grown. The Forest Department should also take up plantation of green fodder. It should be then supplied to the gauthans, Baghel said. Baghel held a review meeting of Godhan Nyay Scheme, Suraji Gaon Yojana, CM Plantation Scheme, Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana and other plantation schemes at his official residence-cum-office, said an official communication.

The gauthan committees which are not active will be revived. The incomplete gauthans should be completed on priority. The ‘Roka Chheka’ drive in villages should commence from July 1, said Baghel.

He said a system should be put in place for green fodder grown in forest areas to reach the gauthans.

During the review of the plantation programme, the Chief Minister said that in each block around five species of fruit bearing trees should be planted.

An integrated website will be developed for farmers taking up other crops and plantation so that their work can be monitored, he said.
