The first residential colony of Naya Raipur developed by Chhattisgarh Housing Board is ready for occupation by allottees. Chief Minister Raman Singh will inaugurate the colony in Sector 27 spread over an area of 156 acres comprising all basic amenities with housing units for a total of 2,665 families on April 2 this year, said an official statement.
The colony comprises 1,832 'cell type' and 833 independent houses. The Chief Minister while inaugurating the colony would also give away possession letters to the allottees of the houses. The construction work for the colony was taken up on January 24, 2009 after the bhoomi pujan at the project site.
This apart, work is underway on a war footing for the completion of two commercial-cum-business premises and two convenience shops at Sector-27 which are nearing completion, according to an official statement issued here on Sunday.
The other proposed facilities comprise a community building, a senior secondary school, primary school,
nursery school, library and a health centre.
The community building would be constructed based on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) apart from land allocated to a private organisation for constructing a school and a dispensary.
Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat said that due care had been taken to provide all basic facilities in the colony with attention
paid to the entertainment needs of the residents for which a community building had also been constructed.
Chairman of Chhattisgarh Housing Board Subash Rao said that all parameters for developing a modern housing project had been taken into account while developing the colony.
He said that ‘Avenue Plantation’ had been carried out alongside all the four roads in the colony which would enable the residents to fulfil their dream of staying in an eco-friendly colony.
Rao said that concreting of the roads had been done as they have a larger life span with minimum maintenance costs.
This apart, extensive plantation had been done in the colony with a garden developed in the premises. There had also been space reserved for a ‘haat bazar’ and a ‘chowpati’ in the colony, he said.
Rao said that the colony comprises an underground cable system, underground sewerage treatment, sewerage treatment plant, recycling and water harvesting.
He said that the underground sewerage system would ensure hygienic environment and there would be no possibility of an accident on account of underground power cabling done in the colony.
The colony has an elaborate water supply system which would receive water through Tila reservoir passing from the Pacheda Filter Plant. This apart, the colony also has a ‘water harvesting system’ which would prevent any water scarcity in the colony, Rao said.
There are certain shops which had been reserved for the project affected people in the commercial complex which is situated in the south east directon of the colony where shops would be allocated on a 'no-profit no-loss basis' to local and project affected people for opening a milk parlour vegetable parlour and a saloon, he said.
Rao said that provision had been made in the colony for a post office, bank
branch and offices of insurance companies. Moreover, land had been allocated for a Telephone Exchange for the Bharat Sanchar Nigam ltd (BSNl), said.
Commissioner, Chhattisgarh Housing Board, Sonmani Bora said that the housing units in the colony had been constructed under a 'mixed housing scheme' in which the dreams of families of lower economic strata and the poor would be fulfilled with provision of superior quality low cost housing.
He said that the architecture of the houses meets all essential needs of a housing unit with the houses reserved and allocated to people
from scheduled caste and tribes community, Government employees, differently abled persons, journalists, artists, army personnel and ex-servicemen, employees of Chhattisgarh Housing Board, freedom fighters and the widows.
The houses with minor modifications had also been highly suitable for the differently abled persons, Bora said.
A city bus provision had been made under the ‘Public Mass Transport’ system for connectivity with Raipur. The International Airport is also in the proximity of Sector 27 with easy access to rail and bus
services, he added.
