Choubey statement displays Congress' dejection: BJP

SR

Reacting on a statement by Congress leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey that large-scale voting took place in Bastar despite Naxal boycott call during last Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, State BJP general secretary and spokesperson Shivratan Sharma stated that it is an insult to the tribals and displays Congress party’s ‘dejection’.

“The Congress party is accepting defeat from now itself. The leader of Opposition must not forget that such statements only embolden the Naxals and provides power to such calls on poll boycott”, he said.

The Congress party must refrain from playing politics over Naxal issue. The BJP had  repeatedly demanded from the Congress party to clarify its policy on Naxals, Sharma said.

He said that during the last 50 years, the Congress kept the tribals away from the development mainstream while colluding in a systematic manner with the Naxals while establishing a regime of fear and terror in Bastar. Due to the atmosphere of fear in Bastar, the innocent tribals were scared of exercising their franchise, Sharma said.
