Chit fund firms issue rocks Assembly again

Staff Reporter

The Opposition Congress members on Tuesday attempted to corner the ruling party members over alleged participation of Chhattisgarh’s cabinet ministers in inaugural ceremony of chit fund companies in the State.

Meanwhile, the Opposition created uproarious scenes in the House while demanding investigation in this connection by a Committee constituted by Chhattisgarh Assembly following which Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal adjourned the House for five minutes.

Raising the issue immediately after the question hour, Congress member Bhupesh Baghel sought permission for tabling some photographs in the House which reportedly highlighted the presence of Chief Minister Raman Singh and other ministers of ruling party in opening ceremony of chit fund companies in the State.

Subsequently, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar (who is also temporarily holding the change of Home Department) and Higher Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey objected to the demand made by Baghel.

Baghel further added that since the PWD Minister Rajesh Munat has challenged the Opposition to come up with evidence proving presence of Chief Minister and other ministers in such programmes, he has some documents proving presence of the Chief Minister and other ministers in such programmes.

Meanwhile, PWD Minister Rajesh Munat said that still he stands by his statement that the Chief Minister and other ministers never took part in the programmes of chit fund companies which were not authorized by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) following which Baghel demanded to table photographs in this regard on the table of the House.
