The Chhindnar bridge on Indravati near Dantewada will expedite the development of villages and make it easier to provide basic facilities in interior areas, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Tuesday.

“This bridge will also step up the development of Naxalite-affected villages of Cherpal, Tumrigunda, Pahurnar, Kaurgaon and other villages across the river and improve the accessibility to basic facilities," he said.

Baghel said this while dedicating the newly-built bridge over Indravati in Dantewada district. The 712-meter-long and 8.40-meter-wide bridge has been built at a cost of Rs 47 crores.

Before this bridge was constructed, rainfall would bring the lives of villagers and the traffic movement in the area to a standstill. This bridge would ensue all-weather traffic movement.

At the programme organized at Chhindnar, the Chief Minister also unveiled 814 development works worth Rs 251 crores for Dantewada district.
