The state Congress on Thursday refuted the BJP’s charges that it violated model code of conduct for the Dantewada by-polls and termed the allegation baseless.
State general secretary of PCC and chairman communication wing Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said “actually the BJP is keeping its excuses ready for its impending defeat”.
The BJP’s opposition to ordinance passed for the reservations of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, other backward class and economically weaker section of unreserved category shows their anti-tribal and anti-poor face, he said.
“The reservation is not restricted to Dantewada region but it is for the entire state and hence the opposition to it is unjustified,” he said.
In a state elections are held continuously after Dantewada there would be by-election for Chitrakot and then there would Panchayat and urban bodies’ elections, he stated. “Hence on the name of model code of conduct we could not stop enforcement of reservation in the state,” he said.
