Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Dr Charandas Mahant and leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey have expressed deep anguish over the rape incident of a four-year-old girl in Rajnandagaon on Monday.

In a joint statement here, the two leaders stated that the innocent children are also not safe under the  Raman Singh Government. They said that the victim was raped that she had to be operated upon for two-and-a-half hours and is now struggling between life and death.

They stated that the incident happening in Chief Minister Raman Singh’s constituency is condemnable and is a heart rending incident. Both the leaders stated that the repetition of such incidents in the State is highly saddening.

They stated that the law and order situation in Chhattisgarh has deteriorated on account of the lack of will in the ruling Government to contain such crimes.

The BJP government had failed in curtailing the crime rate during its 10 year rule in the State, they stated. While the incidents at Jhaliamari in Kanker district, Amadula In Balod and in the girls ashrams in Manendragarh are still fresh, the incidents in Bilaspur and Rajnandagaon have now taken place, they stated.
