Chhattisgarh will observe Akshaya Tritiya festival as “Mati Pujan Diwas” on Tuesday. On this day, the state will take a pledge to protect Mother Earth by motivating farmers to embrace organic farming.
Instructions to celebrate Akshay Tritiya (known as Akti in the region) statewide have been issued following an announcement by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
On this occasion, a state-level event will be held in Raipur. More programmes will be organized across Chhattisgarh.
The government has taken several steps to promote organic farming which includes boosting the use of vermicompost instead of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and also cow urine and organic materials on a large scale to rejuvenate the fertility of the soil.
In a bid to move forward in this direction, a grand campaign will commence on Akshaya Tritiya on May 3 this year.
Functions will also be held at the three-tier Panchayat level in which public representatives will read out the message of the Chief Minister.
