With a view to marking ‘International Day for the Prevention of the Ozone layer’, the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) in association with the Government Nagarjuna Postgraduate College of Science will organise Speech, Poster Making and General Knowledge competition on Tuesday.
The theme for the Speech and Poster Making competition will be “Ozone layer Protection: The Mission Goes On” while the General Knowledge questionnaires will be based on environment issues, a CECB press release issued here on Monday stated.
The competitions aim to spread awareness regarding phasing out of Ozone- depleting substances. Besides, the college students will be able to learn the importance, cause and ill-effects of Ozone layer depletion. Dr SK Goyal, Principal Scientist and In-Charge of Environmental Impact & Risk Assessment (EIRA) Division, CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur will mark his presence as the keynote speaker.
A prize distribution ceremony will be held to felicitate winners of different competitions on 1 pm. The CECB has appealed to the citizens for their participation in the event to make it a success.
