The State Government has declared cash rewards of various amounts on arrest of over 700 Maoists in Bastar region, informed Home Minister Ramsevak Paikra in Chhattisgarh Assembly on Wednesday. In a written reply to a question raised by Congress member lakheshwar Baghel the Minister informed that since 2014 as on May 31, 2016, the Government has declared rewards on arrest of 722 Maoists in Bastar region, while adding that out of these, 178 Naxals have surrendered.
Action was also taken against five surrendered Naxals in Kanker district.
