The Chhattisgarh Food Department lodged a police case against two persons for illegally transporting a Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker with 7,000 kg of LPG gas in Raipur two months ago.
The department filed an FIR against vehicle owner Kamlesh Jain and driver Santosh Deldia under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, an official communication said on Wednesday.
On June 20, officials seized the tanker of Indian Oil, which was returning from Odisha, from a gas refilling plant at Mandir Hasaud on the outskirts of Raipur city.
The driver failed to produce licenses and documents required for transporting the LPG gas. He told the officials that he filled the tanker at Bargarh in Odisha.
