Simplification of revenue administration process has given a major relief to people in Chhattisgarh, helping them to avoid frequent visits to government office for years together to resolve their land and property related matters.

Revenue administration plays a quintessential role in the smooth regulation of administrative affairs. Hence, it is a major responsibility of the government to provide easy, simple and timely access to these services, an official communique said on Monday.

With the formation of a Congress government, the regulation, simplification and enhanced accessibility of revenue administration was marked as the top priority.

In last two years, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department has worked to strengthen the Public Service Centers.

Various matters falling under the revenue administration like land registration, distribution of land, government land, diversion and registry of small land blocks have been simplified.

New revenue administrative units are being set up. New sub tehsils, tehsils and sections are being made. Fulfilling a lingering demand, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi was carved out of Bilaspur district, taking the total  number of districts in the state to 28.

Twenty-three tehsils have been formed in 15 districts for the convenience of the public.

Now caste certificates are instantly issued to children based on their parents’ caste certificates. This has eased the pressure on parents to a great extent.

The Chief Minister has lifted the ban on sale of small plots in Chhattisgarh. Now, less than 5 decimals of land plots are being registered in the state, whose revenue has increased as a result.

The government is working towards computerizing the revenue records and making them available digitally so that people can access it from their homes.
