The Chhattisgarh government on Monday tweaked its rules regarding discharge of Covid-19 patients from hospitals, saying they can also go home in their own vehicles.
At the same time, if an ambulance is not available during discharge, the hospital management will arrange for another vehicle to drop the patient home.
An official communication said a letter to this effect has been issued by Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Niharika Barik Singh to all District Collectors.
The Secretary has pointed out that while the Covid-19 positive cases has shot up in the state, the number of patients discharged after recovery has also risen.
The government has noted that in a few districts, with a ratio gap of positive and discharge patients narrowing, there is lack of availability of ambulances.
The Collectors have been told that in case an ambulance is not available, they can make necessary arrangements for other vehicles to drop the discharged patient. And if a patient wants to go home in his own vehicle, the hospital should grant permission for it.
