C’garh pushes for full sale of vermi compost

Staff Reporter

Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain on Wednesday told officials to prepare an action plan for 100 percent sale of vermi compost prepared from cow dung under the Godhan Nyay Yoajana.

This was necessary to promote organic farming, Jain said at a meeting he held via video conferencing with all Divisional Commissioners, Collectors, CEOs of District Panchayats and Chief Health and Medical Officers (CMHOs).

Jain also reviewed coordinated plans of various departments for the multi activity centers set up at Gothans, the need for farmers to take to crops other than paddy, meeting Covid-19 vaccination targets, Aadhaar linkage and progress of National Highway projects.

The state's top official called for awareness campaigns to promote the use of organic manure when crops are sowed, an official communication said.

The Chief Secretary asked the officials to identify bigger and progressive farmers who could emerge as champions of organic manure by using them in farming.

The Agriculture Department was told to encourage farmers in each district to embrace organic manure by helping them understand its value vis-a-vis higher output in comparison to chemical fertilizers.

Besides ensuring the availability of raw materials at the multi-activity centers at Gothans, officials were urged to arrange for the sale of the products that are manufactured.

The Chief Secretary directed that regular monitoring of vaccination of frontline workers should be done. The second dose will be given four weeks after the first.

Jain told the Collectors to expedite the new and ongoing works proposed in Chhattisgarh by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Among those who attended the meeting are Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Subrat Sahoo and Additional Chief Secretary Renu G. Pillay.
