Staff Reporter

Over 450,000 employees and gazetted officers in Chhattisgarh will resort to an indefinite strike from August 22 in support of their demands. They held a five day strike from July 25 to 29.

The state government employees want 34 percent dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA) and pay scale at par with the Central government employees.

At present they are          getting 22 percent DA, said Vijay Jha, Patron, Chhattisgarh Class III Grade Employees Union.

He said all other unions and associations will join hands to participate in the strike.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Clerical Grade Employees Union state President Rohit Tiwari said the union has also decided to support the strike scheduled on August 22. The union is also             fighting for resolving the wage disparities.

He said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had on February 17 announced plans to remove the wage disparities of the clerical staff. But till date no steps have been taken to resolve the issue.

Earlier, the Secretariat staff was reluctant to join the five-day strike but the             associations have announced their intention to join the strike from August 22.
