Chhattisgarh’s Health and Family Welfare Department was on Friday awarded for “Excellence in Mental Health” for giving better mental care to citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic.

National Health Mission Director Dr Priyanka Shukla received the award on behalf of the state at a function in New Delhi.

Dr Shukla said in a statement that the award was conferred for extending healthcare facilities even in far flung areas with the help of trained medical officers and Rural Medical Assistants.

More than 1,400 officials and staff were trained at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Science (NIMHANS). They counselled thousands across the state during the pandemic, she said.
