Ten percent of Chhattisgarh's population has received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and by month-end everyone above 45 years will receive the first dose, the Health Department said on Thursday.
“By the end of this month, the first dose of Covid vaccine will be administered to all people above 45 years which make 20 percent of total population or 58.66 lakh,” a press release from the department said.
So far 25.25 lakh people in this age group have received the first dose.
The department quoted the World Health Organization, Unicef and Indian experts as saying that the vaccine is totally safe and has been created following all necessary parameters.
Its side effects are almost negligible. Apart from pregnant ladies, new mothers feeding babies, Covid patients or with people with serious allergy, all others can take the vaccine.
It has been proved scientifically that if a person gets Covid infection after two doses of vaccine, his condition will not be serious as compared to non-vaccinated patients, the statement said.
