Union Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Shri Giriraj Singh on Thursday underlined the need to build a model panchayat in every district of Chhattisgarh.
He was holding a review meeting of the Land Resources and Panchayati Raj Department here.
Underlining the concept, he said it should be in accordance with the guidelines of the United Nations.
He laid emphasis on increasing public participation to make villages green with trees and plants under a Green Panchayat.
There is a need to increase the income of the Panchayat. If the facility is available, the panchayat can levy tax, due to which the panchayat will get continuous income, he said.
He said that 100 gram sabhas should be organized at the panchayat level. The villagers should be allowed to make decisions after discussing various topics, which would increase their participation in the development of the panchayat.
He said the income of women should be increased through the Livelihood Mission.
