A BSF jawan was injured after a pressure bomb planted by Maoists went off in the insurgency-hit Kanker district, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred between Sulangi and Siksod villages under Siksod police station limits about 120 from district headquarters Kanker, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) (Anti-naxal operation) Jayant Vaishnav informed. We had received inputs that road connecting Sulangi and Siksod has been blocked by Naxals by felling trees. Accordingly, a contingent of BSF and District Force has mobilized towards the spot from Siksod police station.
While the force was on way to spot, Constable Vinod Chauhan of BSF accidently came in the contact with a pressure bomb that exploded injuring him on his leg, the DSP said. The injured jawan was administered First Aid at a local hospital and subsequently referred to Raipur for better treatment, he said. Security personnel have returned to their camp after accomplishing their task of clearing the Siksod-Sulangi route, the DSP said.
