Book State Cooperative Dairy Federation chief, Minister: Cong

The Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress on Wednesday demanded registering FIR against Chief of Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Dairy Federation and Minister for Women and Child Development Department following the death of two children after consuming milk at Bijapur district of Bastar.

“The statements coming from the Minister and office-bearers of Milk Federation has made it clear that like other incidents in past the process of blaming lower level employees for the incident has begun so that issue could be pushed under the carpet,” he said.

According to Baghel, the amount of milk required for running the scheme is not produced in Chhattisgarh and hence it has to be imported. It means the milk will take the time to reach Chhattisgarh and then it will be packed after which it would be distributed, he said.

“While launching the programme, it is the responsibility of the Department to take care of all components required in running of the scheme; like from where milk would be collected, how it will be handled and after distribution how it would reach children. The Department has the responsibility to do this and it is a gross negligence,” he asserted. Baghel claimed that the amount of caustic soda was higher in the milk due to which this incident happened.

“The responsibility of high-level officers must be fixed. An FIR under Section 304 should be registered against officers,” he demanded. Replying to reported statement of Women and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu stating that there was nothing wrong with the milk, he said since the Minister has taken the responsibility, the FIR should be lodged against her.

Reacting over the inability of ministers to reach Bijapur after the incident he said that it seems now ministers are also not obeying the orders of Chief Minister.
