BJP will hold workers' meet in all seats ahead of declaring candidates

SR

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Ramsevak Paikra on Sunday said that the party has decided to hold a ‘worker meets’ in all the 90 Assembly constituencies before taking a final call on candidates’ names for Assembly polls to be held on Nov 11 and Nov 19.

About four to five surveyors for every constituency had already submitted their report to the party on the probable candidates for each of the 90 seats, Paikra informed in a statement here.

He said that many of the worker conventions would be attended by the party MPs and Chief Minister Raman Singh himself where the senior leaders would get to know the ground realities. It is only after this, the party would announce its list of candidates.

Paikra said that the ticket distribution in the BJP takes places in a democratic manner unlike the Congress party where the same is thrust upon the candidate.

‘The candidate selection process in the BJP is so democratic and transparent that every common worker’s views are taken under consideration before finalising the candidates’, he said.

Commenting on the reported statement of former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi that the ticket distribution in the Congress had been taking place after seeking consent from All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi, the State BJP president remarked: ‘This proves that there is no place for a democratic system in the Congress and the party had become a private property of a single family.’

He exuded confidence that the selection of candidates made by the party would bring positive outcomes at the polls with a hatrick win for the party.
