nLeader of Opposition and BJP legislator Dharamlal Kaushik attacked the state government over the alleged increase in incidents of loot, kidnapping, rapes, murders, dacoity over the last one year.
He said the state has turned into a ‘crime state’, which was earlier known for being most peaceful in the country. He warned that if the current situation continues, then BJP would hit the streets for restoring law and order.
Addressing the media on Thursday, he said situation prevailing in state can be gauged from the fact that in broad day light two girls are murdered while in Baloda Bazar, Bilaspur and other parts of the state gang rape and burning of bodies were reported. He pointed out even after girls approached police with their complaint, police did not act leading to the murder.
Listing out the data of different districts, Kaushik said in Raipur city itself in year 2017 witnessed around 54 murders and it rose to 84 in 2019. Similar data prevails in cases of abduction, murder and rapes/molestation. The issue was raised in tge State Assembly but situation has not improved.
He alleged that politicalisation of police has taken place. The police are involved in seizure of paddy from small traders and farmers instead of controlling crime. Citing example, a farmer fears police to sell his paddy in open market. The situation is such that morale of criminals is high while police has failed to control it, he alleged.
