BJP to skip all-party meeting called by Baghel

Staff Reporter

Chhattisgarh BJP Members of Parliament and senior BJP leaders will skip a meeting of all Members of Parliament from Chhattisgarh and all the political parties convened by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on November 5.

The meeting was called to discuss farmers’ issues mainly seeking assistance from Centre to sanction the procurement of paddy at Rs2500 per quintal and others related issues.

Baghel also called a meeting of farmers’ body.

According to BJP sources, keeping in view of impending Supreme Court’s verdict on Ayodhya issue, which is expected on November 10, the BJP central leadership has called an urgent meeting of party leaders from BJP-ruled states and also former chief ministers and organisation leaders at New Delhi.

BJP vice president and former chief minister Raman Singh, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, BJP state president Vikram Usendi, general secretary organisation Pawan Sai and others have left for New Delhi to attend the meeting.

Before leaving for Delhi, former CM Raman Singh said no information or intimation has been given for all-party meeting. No MP of BJP is participating in the meeting. He said he is unaware for what reason the meeting has been called. He lamented that in major events, BJP MPs are denied invitation and they are called only when the ruling party needs them.

Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said Chief Minister should first hold the survey of losses incurred by farmers due to extended rains in harvest season. Nothing of this sort has been done.
