The BJP on Monday organized a state-wide protest before primary cooperative societies seeking extension of paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh till February 15. The government had extended it till February 7.
BJP leader and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh staged a protest with party workers at the primary cooperative society in village Farfoud in Raipur.
Dr Singh told the media that the government should extend the procurement till February 15.
He said the farmers were at receiving end due to rains as it had caused a delay in procurement. Showcasing the paddy, he said after rains the paddy has been damaged.
Around 26 percent of the paddy in the state has not been procured, he said. Therefore, the date of procurement should be extended till all paddy from farmers is procured.
