SR

Under the leadership of minister Hemchand Yadav, the minister of undivided Durg district, member of parliament and MlAs of the district, on Saturday called on Chief Minister Raman Singh and handed over him a proposal for creating new Durg division.

Minister Dayaldas Baghel, member of parliament Saroj Pandey, parliamentary secretary Vijay Baghel, MlA from Ahiwara Domanlal Korsewada, MlA from Gundardehi Veerendra Sahu, MlA from Dondilohara Neelima Singh Tekam, MlA from Balod Kumari Devi Sahu also advocated for making Durg as a division.

The peoples’ representatives told the chief minister that the Durg district is 107 year old and earlier Rajnandgaon and Kabirdham distrists were part of it. The district had a great identity and it was the central point of all administrative works.

But, on the run of time, for strengthening administrative arrangement, Rajnandgaon and Kawardha district have been carved out of it, and after that Balod and Bemethara have also been made districts about one year ago.

They said that by making Durg district as the divisional headquarters, it would be divisional headquarters for various departments, including Revenue department and by joining the boundaries of the 107 year old

Durg district, Durg would have a separate identity as a new division. Taking their demand seriously, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh assured the peoples’ representatives that Durg district would definitely be made division in the time to come.
