Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief J.P. Nadda of threatening non-BJP states with remarks about "double engine government".
Baghel told the media here these leaders tried to intimidate people of not lending financial support if they did not vote to vote for the BJP in states.
“If not, they threaten saying ‘Modiji ki kripa nahin hogi’," he said.
"We have a federal structure and such statements are highly objectionable," he said. "This proves that BJP has an autocratic attitude and it tries to form a government by hook or by crook."
However, the people of Himachal and Karnataka shunned their appeal of "double engine government" and handed over power to the Congress, he said.
Baghel said Manmohan Singh was also a Prime Minister for 10 years but never used such threatening language.
He accused the Modi government of adapting a biased attitude towards non-BJP governments in states. Chhattisgarh, he said, was suffering a loss of Rs 5,000-6,000 crore per year because of not getting GST compensation.
