Two persons, including one associated with ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the State, were shot at by a businessman over some property related dispute in Dongargarh town of Rajnandgaon district on Wednesday night, police said.
“The accused has been arrested and the injured have been referred to Rajnandgaon for better treatment”, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajnandgaon, Sunderraj informed.
According to him, the incident occurred at 9 pm when Bablu Shrivastava and Doman Sahu reached the residence of Mahesh Soni situated near Dongargarh bus stand.
One of the victims identified as Doman Sahu associated with the BJP succumbed to injuries later in the hospital, he added.
The two sides had some property related issue and the injured persons had reached Soni’s residence to negotiate over the same, the SP said.
After some argument, Soni reportedly took out his licensed gun and fired on both persons. After hearing the gunshot police were informed, which reached the spot and rushed both persons to nearby medical centre from where they were taken to Rajnandgaon for better treatment, the SP added.
