Chhattisgarh BJP on Wednesday accused the state government of demoralizing the police force by not releasing special allowance of policemen deputed in Naxal-infested areas.
BJP national vice president and former chief minister Raman Singh, interacting with media at the party’s divisional office, said the previous government headed by him had sanctioned special allowance for those police personnel deputed in Bastar and Rajnangaon’s nine police stations. He said the police station areas were earmarked on the basis of three categories--where the movement of Naxalites had been reported, where Naxal incidents had occurred and places susceptible to such attacks.
It was a morale booster and financial support to those working in inhospitable conditions, he added.
He said the earlier order was functional till March 201. But after review, the state government should have issued a new order, he said.
No review was done nor was any fresh order issued and the state’s Home Minister claimed to have unaware of the issue.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane said ministers are unable to take decisions, which is putting the police personnel in dilemma on whether they would get the special allowance or not.
The BJP demanded of the state government to release the allowance at the earliest.
