Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday accused BJP leaders of disrupting communal harmony in the state.
Talking to media persons here, Baghel said the BJP had taken up the issue of religious conversion in view the assembly elections this year.
The party was trying to stroke communal hatred, he said.
“It was during the tenure of BJP when maximum numbers of religious conversions were done and a maximum number of churches were erected in the state,” Baghel said.
“Peace in Chhattisgarh is indigestible to BJP. That is why its leaders are trying to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere," he said.
Regarding the recent enforcement of the National Security Act (NSA) in various districts, the Chief Minister said the act was of the Union government and District Magistrates are empowered by the state government to review the act when its term gets over.
“The procedure was followed by the erstwhile BJP government too," he said.
