A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Cell on Saturday sought the intervention of the Chhattisgarh Governor for a hike in the Scheduled Caste reservation quota.
Cell President Naveen Markandey handed over a representation seeking Governor Anusuiya Uikey’s intervention to hike the reservation quota of Scheduled Caste from 13 percent to 16 percent. They urged a special state assembly session for it.
The representation states that the Scheduled Caste community constitutes a major population in Chhattisgarh.
The government on December 2 passed a reservation amendment bill for jobs and for educational institutions where the reservation for Scheduled Caste has been kept at 13 percent.
