The controversy linked to alleged sex CD against PWD minister Rajesh Munat in which a senior scribe was arrested, is refusing to die down in Chhattisgarh as on Sunday dozens of cadres of the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress took to streets in Raipur.

Congress cadres organised a ‘gherao’ of Chief Minister’s official residence in Raipur but their attempt was being foiled by the police near Akashwani Chowk in Civil lines.

In retaliation, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists on Sunday demonstrated at the residence of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Bhupesh Baghel, located at Shankar Nagar for circulating the alleged ‘fake’ CD.

Chhattisgarh government has already recommended for a CBI probe into the matter and the Chief Minister Raman Singh has slammed Congress and expressed deep concern over degradation of politics in the state by the Congress which is indulging in Rs cheap politics and character assassination’  to counter the BJP.

Congress workers gathered at the Gandhi Maidan in front of Congress Bhawan in the afternoon and convened a public meeting.

Followed by the addresses of the senior leaders there, they marched for ‘gherao’ of the Chief Minister’s official residence.

Congress workers were chanting slogans against Munat and sought his resignation from the cabinet. However, the ‘gherao’ attempt of Congress was foiled by heavy police deployment.

However, police deployment was thin at the residence by PCC chief Baghel at Shankar Nagar where angry BJYM cadres pelted stones. The BJYM workers under leadership of their State President Vijay Sharma also burnt effigy of Baghel at the Dharna Site near Budha Talab.
